Annie Mae was born in Jackson, Mississippi in 1916. She had an infectious personality, a genuine love for people and cooking, and an uncanny ability to treat everyone like family. Annie Mae inherited her love of cooking from her mother and took tremendous pride in her culinary creations. Like most Southern cooks during her time, she found happiness in knowing that she could brighten someone's day with something as simple as a satisfying meal. Annie Mae's recipes have been preserved and passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. One of her great-grandsons pondered the idea of opening a restaurant to honor her and rekindle her spirit. It's in the spirit of Annie Mae that we share with the world "Authentic Mississippi Cuisine". Some of our recipes are over 100 years old and just as satisfying today as they were back then. Annie Mae's Café was founded out of the love and admiration a family has for one of their late matriarchs. We loved her then and we love her now. Although legendary southern cooks like Annie Mae are no longer with us, you can still experience and enjoy the foods that had people talking throughout the south. Hopefully, we can make Annie Mae proud with our efforts to replicate and share her southern style cuisine with our community. Our mission is to bring a little joy to your life with our food and to always treat you like family…Just like Annie Mae!
